Year 5/6 Basketball Tournament

On Monday 19th November 2019, the Year 5 Basketballers took part in the Basildon Primary Basketball Tournament.  They played with determination against teams of Year 6 pupils from 17 other schools.  Their positive attitude and noticeable sportsmanship values made them stand out in the crowd as mature and respectful.  Their teamwork and communication enabled them to build on each performance, reflecting on the less successful parts of their game and improving it in the next match.

All of the children were a credit to our school and their behaviour and attitude as a team was exemplary; they were given a special mention and were applauded by the staff and pupils at the tournament.  Stanley scored the much wanted basket in the third game and Ellie-Mai found her way into spaces and offered lots of support on court, demonstrating her incredible attacking skills and games awareness.  Charlie held off the opposition and created passes to encourage the team to move forward with Theo driving into the opposition's defence.  Faith made good use of her speed to keep a tight proximity between her and her player when marking.  Lee was part of a formidable defence unit, showing resilience and determination when trying to intercept the ball.

Well done to Charlie (Captain) and Theo (Vice Captain) for thanking the Referee each time and for supporting the team with positive feedback. The tournament was a very enjoyable experience and we are very proud of their efforts, finishing 5th in their pool from a total entry of 18 teams!  Well done Year 5 team!

Year 5/6 Football Tournament

On Monday 11th November 2019, the Year 5 and 6 Football Team (boys) took part in the Basildon Primary Football Tournament.  They played brilliantly, showing courage and determination against some tough opposition.  Their teamwork enabled them to keep a clean sheet on more than one occasion; Ethan was incredible in goal!

All of the boys were a credit to our school and their behaviour and attitude as a team was exemplary.  They voted Ethan in Year 6 as the "Player of the Match" and they thought that Theo in Year 5 demonstrated the "Best Teamwork".  Mrs Slough and Mrs Newton chose Kegan in Year 6 as their "Star of the Day" for his unwavering support in both attack and defence.

Well done to Josh (Captain) and Kalum (Vice Captain) for thanking the Referee each time and organising the team on the pitch. Great efforts also from Johnny, Charlie and Jack (Year 5) and from Ayaan and Archie (Year 6).  The tournament was huge and we are very proud of their efforts as they finished 4th in their pool from a total entry of 24 teams!  Well done Boys!
