Remote Learning

Remote Learning 2021/22

Please see below an outline of what Remote Learning will look like for each year group in the event of whole class isolation.  With the exception of Nursery, Ryedene will be continuing to use Google Classroom to deliver Remote Education.  It is vital that all members of the class are active participants on a daily basis on the live Google Meet teaching sessions and complete and hand in all tasks set each day.  In the event of whole class isolation, all year groups will be continuing with the planned curriculum and if they do not access the teaching and complete the work each day your child will miss important age related teaching points and may fall further behind their peers.

Nursery

All activities will be set on Tapestry.  Please contact Mrs Frampton if you have any trouble accessing this.

Reception

There will be three live teaching sessions which will incorporate Phonics, reading, writing and Maths teaching.  The times of these will be sent to you and posted on Google Classroom on the first day of isolation.  There will be tasks for your child to complete under the Classwork section on their Google Classroom.  These must then be submitted and your teacher will review their work and provide feedback.  In addition to this your child may be identified for additional small group support in the afternoon.  If this is the case your child’s class teacher will let you know.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours should my child be participating in each day?

The Government guidance states that a child in KS1 should be participating in 3 hours a day and for KS2 4 hours a day.

Will my child receive feedback?

We strongly encourage work to be submitted by 3.30pm if your child would like feedback from a teacher on the same day. Any work submitted after this time will also receive feedback from teachers, but this may be on the following day.

Does my child have to take part?

Yes, there is an expectation that all children engage in the learning, their educational attainment will be severely impacted if they continue to miss out on schooling during the pandemic. The attendance and participation of all children will be monitored, just as in school.

My child is on the SEND register, will they have work set that is appropriate to their needs?

Where required, teachers will set separate assignments for individuals on the SEND register who require an adapted or alternative curriculum in school. In this situation, your child may see two assignments, one personal and the general class lessons, but it will be made clear which is the one adapted for your child.

What shall I do if I encounter problems with Google Classroom?

Should you encounter any technical issues it is really important that you contact the school office as soon as possible. This way, we can work with you to find solutions to the issue so that all our pupils can easily access our remote learning platform.
