PE and Sport Premium

PE and Sport play a very important part in the life of Ryedene Primary and Nursery School.  We believe that physical education and sport contribute to the holistic development of young people and through participation in sport and physical education, young people learn more about key values such as teamwork, fair play and respect for themselves and others.

There is significant evidence to show the positive effects of sport and exercise on children’s physical health, growth and development. Furthermore, sport also provides a healthy environment for young people to learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both winning and losing.

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

How We Use The Sport Premium Funding To Support Our Pupils..

Government funding is provided annually to develop PE, School Sport and Physical Activity in all primary schools (Primary Sport Premium Funding).

Ryedene Primary and Nursery School received £18,100 for the academic year 2021/2022.

We have considered carefully how to utilise this funding to improve teaching and learning in PE across the school and impact on the pupils within our school. We believe that the Sport Premium funding should support three key areas; physical education, healthy, active lifestyles and competitive school sport.

It will be used as follows:

  1. Staff PE training
  2. Sport events and competitions
  3. Access to specialist sports teachers and coaches
  4. Paying for coaches to run clubs
  5. Equipment/resources/materials
  6. Additional Swimming
